The Forfar Funduro, the centrepiece of the Angus Cycling Festival

15 September 2015  |

The Forfar Funduro mountain bike race returns to the heart of the Angus Cycling Festival, Reid Park, Forfar, on Saturday 26 September 2015.

This unique multi-stage mountain bike Enduro race is perfectly pitched for the novice rider with stages to challenge the more seasoned weekend warriors taking part.

Organisers, Muckmedden Events, know how to put the Fun into Enduro, with exciting Quarry Stages and a Dual Slalom finishing in the event village. The Funduro also makes for a great spectator event as the course is compact enough that family and friends can spectate from start to finish and cheer riders on as they hurtle towards certain joy.

Angus Cycling Festival is a must visit event for families or individuals interested in riding bikes. The venue at Reid Park means that spectators and participants alike can really get a taste of the atmosphere over a weekend of amazing activities. The festival does something very rare indeed by bringing together Road Cyclists and Mountain Bikers in celebration of all things two wheeled, no matter how fat or thin those tyres may be. There will be mountain bike races for all ages, road rides, a stunt airbag contest, demo bikes, pumptrack and lots more entertainment for the little ones. All this and some great local food and live music, what better way to spend a weekend than screaming yourself hoarse as you fly through the air on your bike or just cheer on someone else daft enough to do it.

Aaron Gray of Muckmedden Events, said: "Lots of our entrants bring their family to our events as they know there will always be kid's races and other activities to keep them amused.

"Our Funduros have a super-friendly atmosphere and trails that are just technical enough to make riders feel elated, not deflated. They are the perfect events for the Enduro curious novice to try their hand at racing. These events are all about having fun, not shaving tenths off stage times."

Previous entrant Ally Mackay, commented: "Muckmedden events are ideal for somebody starting out because the races aren't insanely technical, but technical enough for seasoned racers to enjoy them. Also, the atmosphere is FUN rather than purely about serious competition".

As is now tradition for Muckmedden Events, an all women "Muckmaiden Ride Out" will be held the week prior to the festival on Sunday 20 September at 11:00am.
